The Municipality of Albenga
When at the beginning of the nineteenth century the Vecchio Palace appeared inadequate for the new needs of the Municipality, provision was made not for the construction of a new building, but for the adaptation of some houses overlooking San Michele Square. The corner tower, of the Malasemenza, which housed the prisons, had to be cut to be incorporated into the building. The facade that characterizes the Town Hall was applied to the fusion of the various structures, but, fortunately, the Tower was not demolished.
A curious detail: in the seventeenth century it housed the prisons and at its base there was the pillory where the scoundrels were lured.
