Magical Transparencies

An exhibition of glass artifacts recovered during excavations in the Albenga necropolis, including a unique piece, the so-called Blue Plate . The variety of shapes and colors and the remarkable quantity of materials make the collection of ancient Albenga glass one of the most significant finds in recent years.

Ingauno Civic Museum

Established in 1933, it is housed in the Palazzo Vecchio del Comune. In the Sala dei Consoli, on the ground floor of the 14th-century town tower, relics of ancient Roman and Byzantine Albingaunum are displayed.

The Loggia preserves a mosaic floor from the 1st century AD, a marble wellhead from the late Imperial period, medieval inscriptions and the ancient units of measurement of the Municipality of Albenga.

Northern Necropolis

Located in Viale Pontelungo (under the “Palazzo Antico Romano” condominium), it preserves some funerary monuments that were part of the northern necropolis of ancient Albingaunum.

The “Blue Plate” , on display at Magiche Trasparenze, comes from the grave goods found in one of the tombs.
