The typical products of Albenga

Albenga has developed around its local food and wine products, all those activities and projects that allow a better quality of life and sustainable development. Food and wine tourism combines quality of the landscapes, typical products and the widespread offer in the territory by farms, wineries and oil mills. The city has always supported and developed the quality of its productions and thanks to integrated tourism protection and promotion activities, it has achieved important awards over time.

City of wine

Wine is not only a product but a symbol following the "City of Wine" certification obtained in 2018. Here the famous Pigato Doc Riviera Ligure of Ponente is produced, a white wine to which the famous Sagralea di Salea event is dedicated. Other important wines produced locally, always belonging to the Riviera Ligure di Ponente Doc, are Rossese, and Vermentino.

In the plain, vegetables, fruit, flowers and aromatic herbs are grown in large quantities. The so-called "4 of Albenga", the trumpet pumpkin, the purple asparagus from Albeng, a slow food garrison, the spiny artichoke and the ox heart tomato, are delivered to the best kitchens in Italy.

Oil & Pesto

From the numerous olive groves, scattered throughout the vast territory, we obtain precious extra virgin olive oils, belonging to the "Riviera Ligure" Doc; in addition to the Taggiasca olive, whose fame has crossed the regional borders, other qualities are also cultivated, such as Pinola and Arnasca. Pesto is a must, produced locally thanks to the large amount of basil that is grown here.

Aromatic and flowering plats

The Albenganese floricultural production and commercial system is mostly dedicated to potted, aromatic, floral and ornamental plants. Aromatic essences (thyme, basil, rosemary or marjoram) and potted flowers (primarily daisies) are excellences that reach all the markets of Northern Europe.
