Piazza IV Novembre - The Jungle Book
The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling is one of the educational pillars of the scout method, especially for cubs (7/11 years). Through the adventures of Mowgli and the other characters, children learn fundamental values such as loyalty, respect for the rules, courage and brotherhood. The Jungle represents an environment full of challenges, just like the growth path of the little ones, and each character (Akela, Baloo, Bagheera, Kaa) embodies a precious teaching: wisdom, strength, friendship, and discipline. The law of the Jungle thus becomes a guide for scout life, teaching children the value of community and commitment on the path to their personal and community growth. The flowerbed is intended to be an interactive path, to be experienced and not just looked at. It is only by crossing it that you can notice and appreciate details and nuances; here, we also wanted to recall a characteristic element of older children: constructions. With wood and ropes, Explorers and Guides (12/16 years) learn pioneering techniques in the open air, develop manual skills and problem-solving abilities.
With the writing 110 and with an exhibition of historical photos around the village house, we also wanted to remember that this year marks the 110th anniversary of the presence of the scout movement in Albenga, born in 1915. Together with AGESCI (Italian Catholic Guides and Scouts Association), MASCI (Italian Catholic Scout Adult Movement) has also been present in the city since 1986.
