From 1 to 4 August 2024 , the Terreni Creativi Festival returns to Albenga, created by the Kronoteatro company, with the support of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation as part of the call Guidelines for contemporary culture projects 2024, with the contribution of the Municipality of Albenga, Liguria Region, Fondazione A. De Mari-Cassa di Risparmio di Savona, L'Ortofrutticola, Azienda Bio Vio, RB PLant, Coldiretti Savona, Coop Liguria and in collaboration with the Scenario Association and the National Theater of Genoa.

A unique event of its kind, now a fixed and unmissable summer event in Western Liguria, now in its fifteenth edition which for 2024 is entitled " Paradise Can Wait ".

The festival conceived and directed by Kronoteatro, which for fifteen years has brought the best of the performative languages of the contemporary scene to the economic heart of the Ingauna plain, won the Garrone Award in 2016 and the Rete Critica Award 2017 as best communication project and the nomination for the Ubu Award 2021 in the best curation/organization category . In 2022 he won two of the most important national awards in the theater panorama: the Hystrio Award - New Muses and the Ubu Award in the best organization and artistic direction category.

The news

There are several important innovations this year. The first, linked to generational turnover, combines shows and companies that have contributed to the history of Italian theater with some emerging groups, in collaboration with the Scenario Association. Furthermore, a choice that goes against the trend of the majority of festivals is to program repertoire shows, in a market that forces artists to over-produce and to see their works last for a season.

The second concerns the entrusting of artistic directions to female artists , in discontinuity with what happens in the rest of the country. “The choice to entrust to a collective of artists what we believe to be the most important role within our programming actions is intended to be an attempt, and our small contribution, in modifying the cultural system to which we are accustomed - say Maurizio Sguotti , Alex Nesti and Tommaso Bianco of Kronoteatro -. By genesis and by chance, our association has always seen male figures in top roles. Today we believe it is important, not in the form of a quota for women, but as a political act, to leave the reins in the hands of the artists we have met over the years and whose sensitivity, ability and professionalism have enriched our professional path". The artistic direction of the theater section is therefore entrusted to Francesca Sarteanesi , the dance section to Francesca Foscarini while Angela Giorgi takes care of the musical programming.
