Feast of the Madonna of Pontelungo

In the Pontelungo district, the Feast of the Madonna di Pontelungo is celebrated every year to remember and thank the Virgin for the miracle that occurred on the night of July 2, 1637. On that occasion, Tunisian and Algerian pirates were heading towards Albenga to attack it, but when they got close enough, believing that the citizens were warned and aware of their arrival, they retreated aboard their galleys. This fact is attributed to a special grace of Mary, the ever-Virgin, watching over the defense of the people of Albenga.

July 2nd

In Viale Pontelungo starting at 2.30 pm the traditional fair will be held, at 6.00 pm in the external area of the Sanctuary the mass will be held and, following the procession, at 9.30 pm the concert of the Pontelungo Band and at 11.00 pm the fireworks display.
