Laigueglia Trophy starting from Albenga

The Trofeo Laigueglia is preparing for a historic moment: for the first time since its inception, the race will start in Albenga . This significant debut is the result of a collaboration between the municipal administrations of Laigueglia and Albenga, united by the desire to share and promote an event that represents cycling excellence at the national and international level.

For over sixty years, the Trofeo Laigueglia has been one of the most prestigious classics in Italian professional cycling, bringing some of the world's best riders to the roads of Liguria. The 63rd edition , scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026 , promises to be highly prestigious thanks to the participation of the leading World Tour and Professional teams. The presence of the best teams and the extensive television coverage guaranteed by Rai Sport and Eurosport constitute a significant opportunity for the promotion and visibility of the Ligurian region, both in Italy and abroad.

The agreement between the two municipalities stems from the understanding that events of this magnitude today require a shared approach and a strategy of cooperation between public bodies, in line with what happens at major international sporting events. Rising organizational costs make networking essential, pooling resources and expertise to ensure the continuity and value of prestigious events like the Laigueglia Trophy.

The 2026 edition features some new features on the route, while the finish will return to the historic location of Corso Badarò in Laigueglia , which saw the triumphs of great world cycling champions such as Eddy Merckx in the 1973 and 1974 editions.

The technical organization of the race is entrusted to ExtraGiro Race , a company led by Marco Selleri who already managed the 2023 and 2024 editions of the Trofeo Laigueglia, obtaining important results also in other international events such as the Cycling World Championships in Imola in 2020.
