De Andrè Squares

Back by popular demand, an event that Fabrizio would certainly have loved, bringing his music to the alleyways of the old city, is back. An emotional and evocative journey from one square to another, seeking and rediscovering sounds that are always the same yet always different, discovering unfamiliar corners and rediscovering others perhaps forgotten. A journey through history, art, songs, and solidarity, in the historic center of Albenga, De André's hometown. In friendship and sharing.

"In an obstinate and contrary direction" - Sunday 5 October at 5pm Oratory of Our Lady of Mercy

FROM FABER TO FRANCESCO
When RAI censored his songs, Vatican Radio broadcast them, but Fabrizio De André would hardly have imagined being quoted one day by a Pontiff. And it couldn't have happened anywhere else but with Francis. In his preface to a book chronicling the odyssey of the poor of Buenos Aires, Pope Francis chose, among a thousand possible references, Fabrizio De André and one of his most irreverent songs (La città vecchia), in which not even God, ultimately, cuts a fine figure by denying the alleyways the warmth of his sun because he's too busy warming the people of other neighborhoods.   A metaphor that hints at his absence from the side of the marginalized to whom De André dedicated La città vecchia. And the choice of Bergoglio was certainly no coincidence. While De André always denounced the hypocrisy of the self-righteous, accustomed to condemning those different from them, Francis was the Pope of mercy, who called for welcoming rather than excluding, for understanding rather than judging.

In the evocative setting of the Oratory of Our Lady of Mercy, a journey into religiosity in the name of the one who "poured wine and broke bread for those who said I am thirsty and I am hungry."

ALDO ASCOLESE guitar and vocals
Genoese singer-songwriter among the best interpreters of Fabrizio De André's songs, thanks also to the timbre of his warm, deep voice.

LAURA MERIONE violin
Alongside his classical training at the Conservatory, he also pursues experiences in music and theatre, ranging from tradition to the search for new sounds.

GIANLUCA ORIGONE guitar
Trained at the Niccolò Paganini Conservatory in Genoa, he has collaborated and collaborates with great artists

Dream Traffickers - Saturday, October 18th, 5:00 PM, Ambra Theater

Once again, Albenga's Teatro Ambra will be transformed for an afternoon into a cellar in the Fieui di Caruggi, hosting people on stage, not characters. A sports champion or a famous singer, a comedian or an actor will play themselves, offering their authenticity to the audience. And they will all be thrilling, because on the stage of the Trafficanti di sogni will be real life, everyday humanity.

Dori Ghezzi and Antonio Ricci will be, as always, the hosts, a reassuring presence. Franco Fasano and Mauro Vero will help welcome guests, both old and new, and will ensure that the host and cellar staff ensure that patrons are well catered for. And, along with the public, everyone will continue to strive to be traffickers of dreams.

Featuring: Luca Bassanese , The Pirates of the Caruggi , Vittorio Brumotti , Mauro Repetto , Giusi and Grazia Reitano

Grand Concert for Don Gallo - Saturday, October 25, 5 p.m., Ambra Theater

A significant moment of OTTOBRE DE ANDRE' is the GRAND CONCERT FOR DON GALLO. Several artists who individually deserve a stage, time, and applause SHARE (each in their own space) the concert to demonstrate that TOGETHER we can achieve much and MULTIPLY the good. Just as Don Gallo advocated, shortly before his death, he asked the Fieui di caruggi to dedicate the event to supporting the Community he founded. For this reason, all proceeds from Ottobre De André (made up of donations received) are donated to the Community of San Benedetto al Porto in Genoa.

LUCA BETTELLA
A young artist from Padua brings the show CARO LUCIO to the main Italian theatres, celebrating the music and legacy of the legendary Lucio Dalla.

SYRIA with MASSIMO GERMINI
Syria (stage name Cecilia Cipressi) began her career in 1995, when she won the Sanremo Giovani competition with her cover of Loredana Bertè's "Sei bellissima," gaining access to the following year's Sanremo Music Festival, where she won the young talent category with "Non ci sto." In 1997, she returned to the Festival, this time among the top performers, finishing third with "Sei tu." Syria also pursues a career as a singer and a stage actress.

She will be accompanied by MASSIMO GERMINI, Roberto Vecchioni's historic guitarist, in a touching tribute to Gabriella Ferri

DIK DIK
One of the most beloved and enduring musical groups, with over sixty years of activity. Theirs is a splendid adventure: Dreaming of California, Without Light, The First Day of Spring, I Stop Here, I'm Selling a House, The Isle of Wight, How Time Passes. Giancarlo "Lallo" Sbriziolo (vocals, bass, and rhythm guitar) and Pietro "Pietruccio" Montalbetti (lead guitar, bass) with Gaetano Rubino (drums and percussion), Mauro Gazzola (piano and keyboards).

Dori Ghezzi

Dori Ghezzi , honorary citizen of Albenga since 2015, has well identified its essence:

" October De André is a joyful reunion with old and new friends. I gladly return to Albenga every time, where I always feel such great affection, which is certainly reciprocated. Here you can breathe real air. There is sincerity, love, a desire to share and, fortunately, still a lot of humanity. Fabrizio, who wasn't too fond of parties and celebrations, would definitely be one of us!" .

The two words that sum up the entire event are "emotions and solidarity."

Emotions are what guests offer to a loyal and engaged audience, willing to spend the night queuing to secure a spot at various events; an audience that often becomes a protagonist itself.

Solidarity is the very meaning of the event, which allocates all donations received to support the Genoese community of San Benedetto al Porto, fulfilling a promise made by the Fieui to Don Andrea Gallo a few days before his death.
